Definition, rights and responsibilities

Authorised nominee definition

An authorised nominee is a person who has been nominated by the VTAC applicant through the VTAC account profile. Authorised nominees are given a select level of access determined by the permissions selected by the VTAC applicant. An authorised can use their designation to gather restricted information from VTAC over the phone once identity has been confirmed.

The application is defined as

The VTAC service for which an individual has made an application to VTAC.

An authorised nominee will only have permission to act on behalf of the VTAC applicant for the below enquiries if selected in the VTAC profile.

  • Profile details
  • The status of an application
  • Whether or not the application is complete
  • Whether or not course offers have been received
  • Whether or not documentation has been provided
  • Whether or not documentation has been received from a third party*

Rights and responsibilities

  • An authorised nominee can act on the behalf of the VTAC applicant, dependent on the permissions selected within the account.
  • VTAC will not provide any nominee with applicant details that the nominee has not been selected to receive. VTAC will not provide the specifics of:
    • the VTAC ID
    • personal details
    • sensitive information – i.e. confidential supporting statements
    • the ATAR or scaled study scores
    • the VCE results
    • ARTS/electronic post-secondary results including GPA

Unless the permissions for a specific section have been granted to the nominee, general information will be provided only. Application changes cannot be made at the request of the authorised nominee, though some exceptional circumstances may be considered.

* While the authorised nominee is permitted to clarify the status of documentation submitted by a third party, they are not entitled to know who that third party is, or the contents of the information provided by that third party.
