Previously known as the Academy of Design Australia, we have a rich history and a contemporary approach, blending the old and the new seamlessly. Founded in 2018 by LCI Education, LCI Melbourne fuses tradition with innovation.
We have considerable expertise and established networks in the art, design, fashion and business professions, both in Melbourne and globally, with our sister campuses in Barcelona, Indonesia, Morocco, Vancouver and Montreal.
LCI Melbourne is an Institute of Higher Education and is on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Course for Overseas Students (CRICOS). Our courses are nationally accredited by the Commonwealth Government’s Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA).
Bachelor of Design Arts
A multi-disciplinary degree that will prepare you, to discover your creative potential through innovative solutions to globally relevant design challenges. Here you will have control of your creative future by customising your degree as you progress.
During your first year with us, you will have the opportunity to explore different facets of art and design through lectures, hands-on workshops and creative labs. This will allow you to then personalise the remaining units of your degree, with the selection of a major and sub-major in Fashion & Costume Design, Filmmaking & Photography, Graphic & Digital Design, Interior Design, or Visual Arts.
LCI enables creative exploration in ways that resonate with the goals of each individual student, delivered through conceptual experimentation. Your bespoke education experience is informed by global contexts and entrepreneurial thinking.
Bachelor of Entrepreneurship (Creative Industries)
This course is designed to equip aspiring creative professionals with the essential skills, attitudes and knowledge to harness the commercial potential within creative industries, or to ensure the best commercial use of their own creative talents. The course emphasises a blend of business and management studies, grounded in contemporary industry practices with a focus on the creative economy. It also provides the opportunity for you to build and develop your own business while you study, applying what you learn in real time to your own creative venture.
Diploma of Fashion Design
Ignite your passion for fashion and make your mark as a design professional. Cultivate your creativity, technical expertise, and vision with the support of experienced mentors. Bring your concepts to life as you develop a fashion collection, mastering fabric handling, manufacturing, branding, and distribution.
Diploma of Graphic Design
Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of graphic design where you'll master digital design, typography, branding, and packaging. From ideation to prototyping, develop your skills and create impactful designs using cutting-edge software. Find your unique creative voice and thrive in the ever-evolving landscape of contemporary graphic design.

Admission criteria
Applicants with recent secondary education (within the past two years)
Australian Year 12 Applicants must have completed an Australia Senior Secondary Certificate (Year 12) or equivalent within the past two years. Applicants must present evidence of completion of an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate (or equivalent).
Year 12 applicants for our Bachelor of Design Arts undergraduate degree via VTAC can get automatic entry (bypass the Admissions Consultation special entry requirement) if they get a pass on one or more of the following Unit 3 & 4 VCE VET units:
- Art Creative Practice
- Art Making and Exhibiting
- Visual Communication Design
- Product Design & Technology
- Applied Fashion Design & Technology

Bachelor of Design Arts
- Satisfactory completion of Australian Year 12, or one of the equivalent qualifications as defined under minimum academic entry requirements.
- An Admission Consultation
ATAR scores are not used in the consideration of your application. Unscored VCE (or equivalent) is accepted for entry.
Students must be 18+ years of age at commencement of course.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process that acknowledges an applicant’s skills and knowledge, gained through previous study or work experience. RPL assists to reduce tuition fees and study loads, ensuring students don't repeat units they have already covered. LCI Melbourne will grant RPL if an applicant's prior learning is relevant to the program, and they can demonstrate this. Successful applicants will receive an ungraded pass in the units they are exempt from.

Special Consideration
Although LCI Melbourne does not participate in in the SEAS scheme we provide a supportive and inclusive community. Students who require support for special needs or who have been educationally disadvantaged are encouraged to apply. Via the direct application process, students can identify if they will require additional support or recognition for educational disadvantage. Educational disadvantage includes applicants with physical disabilities, from geographically isolated areas, or from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
LCI Melbourne acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia. Via the direct application process, students of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent will be able to identify their status. Indigenous Scholarship
All applicants of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island descent are entitled to the Indigenous Scholarship. The Indigenous Scholarship covers 25% of full-time tuition fees annually for students who are of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent. Enrolment
Acceptance of Offer
LCI Melbourne requests that applicants carefully read through the Letter of Offer document to ensure their personal and intended course enrolment details are correct and that they understand the conditions of enrolment at LCI Melbourne. If the applicant has any questions or concerns, they are encouraged to contact the student experience steam before accepting their offer to study with LCI. To formally accept their offered place, applicants are required to complete, sign, and return the digital letter of offer.
Deferment of Offer
Applicants are eligible to defer their offer up to one year from acceptance of offer. Where a student wishes to defer their enrolment and delay their commencement of study, they student must lodge an application to defer with the student experience team outlining the reason for their request. If the application is accepted LCI Melbourne will hold a spot for the applicant in desired return intake.
Fees
The domestic tuition fees for this course can be found on the LCI Melbourne website. Students must meet the liability for tuition fees by census date each trimester, having either; A: deferred their entire tuition fee liability through FEE-HELP assistance; B: paid part of their tuition fees upfront and deferred the balance through FEE-HELP assistance; or, C: paid all tuition fees upfront and in full.

Orientation Program
Students commencing at LCI Melbourne or returning after a leave of absence are given a comprehensive orientation, covering topics from time management to academic policies and procedures, as well as introducing key LCI Melbourne administrative and academic staff. These sessions provide a solid introduction to the expectations, responsibilities and opportunities associated with higher education, assisting students to make best use of their time at LCI Melbourne.
