Open Universities Australia is a not-for-profit that makes higher education possible for everyone.

It doesn’t matter where you live, what your ATAR is (or whether you have one). You might be juggling work or family. No matter what, we make study achievable.

Through Open Universities Australia, you can:

Get prompt, convenient, unbiased guidance – at no cost

Book a one-on-one consultation with a dedicated student advisor and they’ll discuss circumstances, help you weigh-up course options, access funding and find a path.

Start at uni without an ATAR
Through us, you can get into an undergraduate qualification without entry requirements. We call this Open Access. It allows you to start with single subjects, funded by HECS-HELP (if eligible). Once completed, you can use these to enter a degree.

Get assistance applying for student loans

If you're eligible, the Australian Government can pay for some of your studies and give you a loan to pay for the rest. We can help you apply for these funding options. This includes FEE HELP and HECS HELP (as part of a Commonwealth Supported Place).

You’ll repay your student loan through tax when working full-time and earning over a certain amount.

We can also give you access to flexible study options you’ve never even heard about, allowing you to fit your course around other important things in your life.

You can:

choose from multiple start dates throughout the year, and only kick off your course when you’re ready
test out a subject or study area, without committing to the whole qualification
complete your degree a subject at a time, which gives you more space to build your confidence, care for family, or pursue paid work.

Get recognised for previous study or work experience

If you prefer to fast-track your qualification, we can help with that too. Ask us about gaining credit for past study or work experience, so you won’t need to complete as many subjects.

Financial assistance

HELP funding

FEE-HELP
If you're eligible, the Australian Government will offer you a loan to cover the cost of your single subjects or postgraduate course.

FEE-HELP is the funding option to consider if you're studying an undergraduate subject or two, or applying for postgraduate study.

HECS-HELP
Student loans for undergraduate degrees.

If you're eligible, the Australian Government pays for some of your studies, and gives you a loan to pay for the rest.
