Admission criteria

Additional Entry Requirements for International Students

  • 18 years of age prior to commencement of the course
  • Meet the English language requirement, equivalent to IELTS 6.0, no band below 6.0 (If you do not hold an official English test score, you can take our free online placement test)
  • Successful completion of year 12 (VCE, VCE Unscored, VCAL or IB)

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is designed to recognise and acknowledge current knowledge, skills, attributes that students may have gained through previous tertiary study. Collarts will grant course credit in Recognition of Prior Learning if the student is assessed to meet the requirements set by the college. The maximum number of units for which exemption may be granted is 50%.

Year 12 Applicants

  • Completion of Year 12 or an equivalent Australian or international qualification
  • Successful completion of an Entry Conversation with a Collarts Future Student Advisor
  • Submission of a creative submission or folio relevant to your chosen course

Admissions Process

Step 1: Entry Conversation
Complete an informal conversation with a Collarts Future Student Advisor. This is an opportunity to discuss your creative interests, goals, and aspirations, learn more about your chosen course and ask any questions you may have about studying at Collarts.

Step 2: Creative Submission or Folio
Submit a creative piece or folio relevant to your chosen course. We're interested in your ideas, creativity, passion and potential not perfection. Your Future Student Advisor will guide you through the process and provide examples of the types of work you can submit for your study area.

Non-Years 12s:

One of the following:

  • Completion of at least half of the first year of study (0.5 EFTSL) of a higher education diploma, associate degree, bachelor degree or higher, or International equivalent OR
  • VET Certificate qualification, or an International equivalent OR 
  • Work and Life Experience

And:

  • Successful completion of an Entry Conversation with a Collarts Future Student Advisor
  • Submission of a creative submission or folio relevant to your chosen course

Enrolment

Acceptance of Offer

On the official offer release date, Collarts will send you an email containing your offer and instructions to complete your enrolment.

To accept your official offer, you’ll need to prepare a few important documents in advance so you can secure your place quickly:

  • Your USI (Unique Student Identifier) - apply here
  • Your TFN (Tax File Number) - apply here
Step-by-step process

Step 1: Accept your offer Follow the instructions in your official offer email to accept your place.

Step 2: Upload your 100 points of ID

  • Primary ID (must include one): Passport, Birth Certificate, or Citizenship Certificate
  • Secondary ID (must include one): Driver’s Licence, Medicare card, or equivalent

Step 3: Have your USI and TFN on hand to complete the enrolment process smoothly.

FEE-HELP Information

  • Equitable Learning and Accessibility Support: We can work with you to develop a Student Access Plan, implement reasonable adjustments and other supports along with any general guidance and information. We can link you in with support services both within and external to Collarts.
  • Academic Study Success: Collarts offers support and guidance in a variety of academic areas such as essay writing, referencing, research techniques, time management, planning, presentations, and critical reflection. We also offer support in developing learning habits that align with what research shows the most successful students apply in their studies.
  • Career Pathways: Collarts has a dedicated Career Pathways Department ready to assist students and alumni with anything related to careers and jobs. We offer support and assistance with job and internship applications, resumés, cover letters, professional branding (including social media profiles), career advice, interview prep and networking.

FEE-HELP Assistance

All higher education courses offered at Collarts are supported by the Australian Government’s FEE-HELP program for eligible students. This means there are no upfront payments for courses for those using FEE-HELP. 

The Higher Education Loan Program (FEE-HELP) is the private institution version of the HECS-HELP system. For more information about FEE-HELP and eligibility criteria, please contact us or read more on the Australian Government Study Assist website.
