Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) is Australia's foremost specialist educator in game development, 3D animation, filmmaking and visual effects. Established as a non-profit organisation with a mission to grow the creative digital sector, AIE pioneered specialist qualifications in these fields and continues to lead through strong industry partnerships and dynamic, studio-based teaching.
Practical, career-focused education
AIE courses are delivered by industry-experienced teachers in a seriously fun and creatively demanding studio environment. When you learn at AIE, you’re learning from people that know the industry from the inside — because they’ve worked in it. Students develop real skills on real projects — building portfolios that get them hired.
Industry-backed, nationally accredited
AIE’s qualifications are nationally accredited and shaped by the studios setting the industry standard. Continual input from working professionals is built into every Degree and Advanced Diploma. AIE graduates enter the workforce knowing the software, workflows, and expectations that studios demand from day one.
Graduates working at the world's top studios
AIE graduates work around the world at leading games, animation and visual effects studios — including Netflix Animation, ILM, Weta Digital, Epic Games, Ubisoft and Rockstar. They have been credited on titles such as GTA V, Destiny and Cult of the Lamb, and their work has appeared in film and TV productions including Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Lego Movie and Loki, as well as AIE-funded feature films Blue World Order, The Furies and Sissy.
Creativity and know-how that unlocks opportunities
The software, production processes and technical knowledge involved in creative industries are directly transferable to technology-driven industries including engineering, architecture, defence simulation and biotechnology — giving AIE graduates career pathways across Australia's broader digital economy.

AIE has scholarships for eligible learners in AIE's Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Bachelor Degree programs. Please note that scholarships help reduce the total tuition fees but do not cover the full tuition fee. Bursaries assist students to pay for out-of-pocket expenses but may not cover all out-of-pocket expenses.
AIE offers the following three categories of scholarships and bursaries:
- Merit-based scholarships
- Financial needs-based scholarships and bursaries
- Equity-based scholarships
Prospective learners can:
- Apply for one scholarship (and bursary if applicable) from each category
- Apply for a scholarship prior to being accepted into the program. To be eligible to receive a scholarship, applicants will need to meet the entry requirements, apply and be successfully enrolled into the course they intend to study
Learners receiving scholarships are required to meet satisfactory attendance and satisfactory academic progress to maintain eligibility. AIE does not offer advice regarding taxation or Centrelink implications of any scholarships received by learners.
VET Student Loans
VET Student Loans are an Australian Government loan scheme for the Vocational Education and Training sector that is part of the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP).
Students studying Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas or the Graduate Diploma may be eligible to apply for a VET Student Loan to defer the cost of their tuition fees. Students may choose to use VET Student Loans to cover their tuition fees.
A VET Student Loan is repaid through the tax system once a person reaches the minimum income threshold level of repayment. The VET Student Loan remains a personal debt obligation until it is repaid to the Commonwealth and may affect (by reducing) a person’s take-home (after tax) wage or salary until the debt is repaid. It may also affect the borrowing capacity of the person until the debt is repaid to the Commonwealth. It is important to note that VET Student Loans will not be approved for students who do not meet eligibility requirements.
