Supplementary offers can only be made to applicants who have not received an offer in Early, First or Second round. An institution can make a supplementary offer to an applicant regardless of whether the course was listed in the applicant’s preferences or not. For this reason, they should not be interpreted as a measure of demand by applicants.

  2. Mid-Year Applications and Offers by Returning Status
  3. Mid-Year Applications and Offers by Year

Each year, the majority of applications and offers are processed by VTAC from August to February. These offers are for commencement in semester one. However, from May to June, VTAC facilitates applications and offers to courses for commencement in semester two. This is referred to as the mid-year cycle.

Appendix 1: Region Conversion

  1. New Region to Old Region Conversion
  2. Old Region to New Region Conversion

VTAC has redefined the regions that are used in many of the tables, for the 2012-13 Annual Statistics. The regions used in this VTAC Annual Statistics are different to those used in past VTAC Annual Statistics.

VTAC has adopted the Statistical Local Area 4, of the Australian Statistical Geography Standard, as the definition of region within Victoria. Outside of Victoria, region continued to be defined as State.

For each applicant, their region was based on their residential postcode. The conversion table from postcode to SLA4 was taken from ABS catalogue number 1270.0.55.006, released in July 2012. Where a single postcode mapped to multiple SLA4 regions, the region with the higher residential population was allocated.

The tables in this appendix allow (approximate) conversion from New Regions to Old Regions, and from Old Regions to New Regions.
