Foreword
This report covers the activities of the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre for the period 1 July 2006 to 30 June 2007.
The period was characterised by continuing success in all areas and activities. Major developments, in particular:
- streamlining the separate applications for non-year 12 and year 12 applicants into one application process
- improving the functionality and accessibility of online services such as MyInfo which presents a centralised repository for applicant information.
In the notion of continuous improvement a significant review/health check of the VTAC IT system was conducted, specifically targeting the deployed systems and supporting IT functions. An implementation plan will be developed in consideration of the points this review highlighted.
In a reversal from the previous year application numbers increased, from 78,643 to 80,770.
Two new participants were approved to join the system:
Headmasters Advanced Academy Training
Stott's College
One institution, the Melba Conservatorium of Music, withdrew. There are now 59 participating institutions: 13 universities with four multi-sector offering both higher education and TAFE courses), 14 stand-alone institutes of TAFE and 32 independent tertiary colleges.
It is with pleasure that I present this report of the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre.
