Timely application deadline approaching for 2026 university applications

The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) is reminding students that the timely application closing deadline for students applying to begin tertiary study in 2026 is fast approaching.

In recognition of student needs and the transition to a new portal, VTAC has extended the deadline for Timely Close applications to 5pm on Wednesday 1 October. This ensures students have every opportunity to submit their applications with confidence by this date to avoid late application fees.

After this deadline, the processing fee for applications will increase. VTAC encourages students to apply before this deadline even if they are still exploring their study options and preferences. Lodging an application now helps students keep their choices open while avoiding higher costs. Preferences can be updated as often as needed, at no extra charge, once the initial application has been submitted.

Please note that VTAC will also be extending the SEAS application deadline to Monday 13 October. So far, more than 40,800 Year 12 students have already applied through VTAC to study in 2026, allowing them to shift their focus to final exams with peace of mind.
