Here is a list of resources from organisations separate to VTAC that provide information and support to refugees and asylum seekers hoping to study in Australia.
- The Victorian government has a program called Asylum Seeker Vocational Education and Training (ASVET), which grants temporary residence for participation in a government-subsidised Skills First training course.
- Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is a great resource for those looking for support or study opportunities. They can also provide reference letters for those interested in the ASVET program.
- Refugee Education has a list of available scholarships for those who are refugees or asylum seekers.
- Deakin Create Organisation has published A Guide for Students from a Refugee or Asylum Seeking Background. Inclusive of understanding higher education journeys and pathways, as well as the reference table below. More information can be found on their website.
- La Trobe University provides refugee and new migrant support on their website.
- RMIT published information on study opportunities for people seeking asylum.
- Victoria University has information about the support they provide.
- VU Polytechnic publishes information on programs, courses and opporunities for asylum seekers.
- Swinburne University provides individualised support to those of refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds and has information and advice on ‘how to apply’ as an asylum seeker/refugee.
