Pathways for nursing and midwifery
Once a Bachelor of Nursing or a Bachelor of Midwifery has been completed, graduates are eligible to register as Registered Nurses and/or Registered Midwives and can be employed in the healthcare system under these roles.
Instead of starting with a Bachelor of Nursing or Midwifery, a Diploma of Nursing is a great way to be eligible for later entry into a Bachelor of Nursing or Midwifery, with potential Recognition of Prior Learning options available.
In addition, the completion of a Diploma of Nursing will allow graduates to register as an Enrolled Nurse, which also leads to job opportunities.
Pathways into a Diploma of Nursing through certain Certificate IV qualifications may also be available at some institutions.
More information about available pathways can be found on institution websites when researching Bachelor of Nursing or Midwifery degrees, or through VTAC’s CourseSearch.
